Looking ahead to November 2020

Naomi Tebben: My question for the Democratic candidates would be, how would they not only address the marginalized groups that they strive to help but also fix their issues?

This question is important to me because the scope of both the Democratic Party and the Republican Party have changed. The Republican Party only focuses on one group, they promise certain things and the group feels like they’ve been listened to. However, the Democratic Party has kind of a very wide scope. And usually they’re addressing all these groups without promising anything. They’re only addressing them without addressing their problems.

I don’t think the candidates are currently talking about how they will get the problems solved. They address all these minority groups or marginalized groups such as the LGBT group or immigrants but they don’t address how to fix their problems. So to me it seems it’s always like, ‘Oh, I’m here for you, but I’m not gonna fix your problems.’

Jack Libin: My question for the Democratic candidates is with the price of college ever increasing along with government subsidies for college ever increasing, how do we make sure colleges are financially accountable if college becomes free? This question is important to me because myself and many of my friends are worried about getting into debt going to college.

Sam Fedor: What long term economic policy will you implement to ensure the long term economic stability of future generations?

My generation is the future, and we’re living in an ever changing world. So I think that economic policy based on a changing economy will go a long way towards providing economic stability for the future. I think that a lot of the candidates economic plans focus on the short term, but I would like to know how they intend to keep the economy growing while still maintaining these plans.

Sam Oswald: How will your faith influence your actions in the White House?

I think this is an important question because growing up in a very conservative and a very religious state, I’m aware of the connections between one’s political and religious beliefs. And while a lot of conservative candidates are very outspoken about this connection, I feel that very few of these Democratic candidates have expressed this connection. And I think this is important because America is a very religious country and its citizens would want to know how one’s faith would influence what they do as president of our nation.
