Peter and the Starcatcher opens this Thursday

Peter and the Starcatcher opens this Thursday

Peter and the Starcatcher, this year’s MainStage Play, opens Thursday at 7pm in the auditorium. The play is based on the novel Peter and the Starcatchers a series of books that detail the background for the characters of Peter Pan, Mrs Darling, Tinker Bell, and Captain Hook.

“This is actually the origin story to Peter Pan, how Peter gets his powers, and why he's the way he is,” Gillian Mozdy said. “It's back in the past when Molly is Wendy's age. And it's a hilarious story of how Hook and Peter came to be,” Gillian said.

“Friendship and inclusion are big themes in this play because the characters in this show learn how to be friends even though they recently just met each other,” senior Bella DiNardo said. “But in the end, they all come together.”

Bella is a relative newcomer to stage productions at Judge, but others in the cast have been part of the scene for a while.

“I've been performing my whole life,” Gillian said. “I used to go to Madeleine Choir School, so I was a choir kid for a long time. And I started acting, I think, like in sixth or seventh grade. And I just love to be on stage. I just love the way it feels to be up there and just the energy. I keep doing it just because it's a feeling that you can't get anywhere else. I mean, when you have a live audience and when everyone's watching you – the pressure and the energy – it's a feeling like no other.”

Georgia Stockholm has also been in a lot of the productions at Judge, like Side Show and Mamma Mia!

“if somebody were to come to me and ask if they should be in a play, I would tell them to definitely do it,” Georgia said. “I would tell them to stay true to themselves, and to be prepared for the stuff that we have to do at home because there's quite a bit. Have fun at rehearsal and just be committed to it.”

The play runs through this Saturday, March 7.
